What is my company's liability with an on-site day care center?

Operating any business involves risk; fortunately KidCentric employs policies and procedures that greatly reduce the potential for high risks. High-quality on-site day care programs have extremely low accident rates. Additionally, contracting with KidCentric will lessen the company's direct liability risks because KidCentric is directly responsible for day-to-day operations.

What will it cost to operate an on-site day care center?

Start-up costs include:

  • building / remodeling
  • initial staffing
  • supplies
  • equipment
  • applicable permit and license fees
  • child care consulting

On-going costs include:

  • daily operations
  • personnel
  • facility maintenance
  • janitorial services
  • food
  • supplies
  • replacement and upgrade of equipment
  • on-going program management fees

Even if my company wants to create an on-site day care center, we don't understand the government regulations. What can we do?

KidCentric provides experience with and knowledge of all licensing regulations and are able to lead your organization through this sometimes cumbersome process.

How much space do we need for an on-site day care center?

KidCentric will conduct an Employee Child Care Needs Assessment to determine projected utilization and growth of the day care center. Once we determine the required capacity, we will need (standard requirements, individual states may vary):

Indoor activity space of at least 35 square feet per child

Outdoor activity space of at least 75 square feet per child

Non-activity space for office, kitchen, bathrooms, etc.

Fortunately, new sites can be specifically designed and built on property available to the company or spaces can be remodeled to meet KidCentric's high quality standards.

What about employees with no child care responsibilities?

Equitability is a very important issue to consider when developing new employee services and benefits. According to recent surveys, companies that have implemented child care programs report that they have received a highly favorable reaction from all of their employees, including those without child care responsibilities.

How does the company benefit from an on-site day care center?

Companies have experienced decreased turnover, tardiness and absenteeism, along with increased morale, productivity, and loyalty which all translate into savings for the company. Please review the "Corporate Child Care Success Stories" attachment for specific studies and information.

Are there any tax benefits for employer sponsored child care programs?
